Thank you for your comment!

Unfortunately, even though B6 is water soluble, it can have toxic neurological effects if too much is taken over time. Cases of toxicity as a result of supplementation are well-documented. I myself have had a client who suffered from what appeared to be peripheral neuropathy, and those symptoms all but disappeared after B6 supplementation was eliminated. There is a lot of research on this, but here is a brief excerpt from a fairly comprehensive Wikipedia article on the topic:

<blockquote>"Adverse effects have only been documented from vitamin B6 supplements and never from food sources. This article only discusses the safety of the common supplemental form of vitamin B6 pyridoxine (for a full discussion please see pyridoxine). Toxicologic animal studies identify specific destruction of the dorsal root ganglia[16] which is documented in human cases of overdosage of pyridoxine.[17] Although vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin and is excreted in the urine, doses of pyridoxine in excess of the RDI over long periods of time thus result in painful and ultimately irreversible neurological problems.

The primary symptoms are pain and numbness of the extremities, and in severe cases difficulty walking. Sensory neuropathy typically develops at doses of pyridoxine in excess of 1,000 mg per day. However, there have been a few case reports of individuals who developed sensory neuropathies at doses of less than 500 mg daily over a period of months. None of the studies, in which an objective neurological examination was performed, found evidence of sensory nerve damage at intakes of pyridoxine below 200 mg/day. This condition is usually reversible when supplementation is stopped.[18]

Existing authorizations and valuations vary considerably worldwide. In 1993 the European Community Scientific Committee on Food defines intakes of 50 mg vitamin B6 per day as harmful and established tolerable upper intake level of 25 mg/day for adults in 2000.

The Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals of the Food Standard Agency UK (UK EVM) derived a safe upper level (SUL) of 10 mg/day for a 60 kg adult in 2003.

The tolerable upper limit has been set by the US FDA at 100 mg/day in 2000.[19] The nutrient reference values in Australia and New Zealand recommend an upper limit of 50 mg a day in adults."</blockquote>

The B vitamins are water soluble and not toxic. The amount of b6 one would have to take to be toxic would be more than any human would consume

Hi Eva. I'm thrilled to hear you'll be doing this in Nashville. These are exciting times. So I understand your needs better, perhaps you could send me an email outlining the types of mediation you are trying to teach (i.e. between individuals, between organizations, the power relationships involved, the commitment level of the parties, specific examples, etc.), and I will do my best to help.

Till next,

I enjoyed reading your article. I have been having discussions with a friend on how practicing art brings one closer to God and is akin to letting the Holy spirit speak through when preaching. I am uncomfortable with the concept of the artist seeing the idea as opposed to struggling with everything heshe has to get it right, hence the lack of verbal explanation on the artists part latter. The latter more closely resembles my experience. Other than that your work felt very ‘right.’ An example of a hellish artist that is being dragged into the light by practice might be RC Horsch. Very disturbing interview: http://www.bizarremag.com/sleaze/interviews/3950/rc_horsch_heroin_erotica.html?xc=1

Hi George. I think you make an excellent point. Not only social trends but also technology tends to narrow the breadth and depth of our interaction. One of the objectives of Integral Lifework is to view ourselves and others through the lens of twelve centers of nourishment, and when we do this, we can perceive things more holistically, empathically and intimately. Of course, the barriers of not having physical contact or nonverbal communication are still present in a medium like this one. Which is why I am developing other ways for like-minded folks to interact as well, ways that prioritize and facilitate deeper levels of interaction. More on this in the months to come! Thank you for your thoughts George.

The intent is noble. My experience is that the majority of communication is for extremely limited purposes. Paying for groceries, discussions with clients, a glass of wine with friends. Insights shared or observed in others are extremely rare occurrences - about as frequent as seeing a comet. In modern society these shared insights may become even further removed with remote communication. We are in the process of losing all the non-verbal aspects of communication.

Very funny Szabo. :-) In Integral Lifework vernacular, that would be called "substitution nourishment." In fact most addictive behavior is the result of one or more dimensions of self (social, spiritual, emotional, etc.) being neglected or experiencing some sort of nourishment barrier. Once neglected dimensions get fed in a regular and satisfying way, the desire to escape or self-medicate steadily decreases.
